A recent 12 year study by University of Virginia’s, Robert Emery, looked at differing outcomes between parties who divorced using mediation and parties who divorced using litigation. The parties who mediated were able to reach settlement faster than those who litigated. Those who mediated were less likely to required court intervention than those who litigated. Parents who were not the primary residential parent and who mediated had measurably better interactions with their children than those who litigated. http://emeryondivorce.com/divorce_mediation_study.php
